Traffic in Reno, Nevada
Reno is a cool city to enjoy the real pleasures of life. It has been observed that in the recent past few years people around the world are moving towards Reno because of job opportunities and attracted by it's natural attractions. With the passage of time population of Reno has been growing day by day. If we looked back a decade ago, anyone could quickly drive across the town within 15-20 minutes, or it may take less time. But now the condition changed. With an increase in the population, traffic is increasing has also become an issue. Be prepared for rush hour traffic to be about 30 minutes just idly moving with a slowness that will ruin your day. Although not as bad as the traffic in Vegas, Reno traffic has definitely been worsening. My recommendation is, just plan ahead and take the traffic time into account as you prepare for your travels.
With the increasing number or vehicles on the road, especially in downtown Reno, it would be wise to consider alternative streets and take out your trusted GPS. But one thing I noticed in Reno is that traffic is manageable and fellow drivers are very courteous. The roads are mostly in good condition though, with an occasional streets under construction here and there. Drivers follow proper rules and regulation while driving in peak hours. The flow of vehicles are smooth, but things get complicated when there is heavy rain or, least likely, snow on the freeways and streets. Parking spaces are not too difficult to find if you are patient enough to look and drive around a little bit to find the best spots. I'd say, just like any metropolitan area, traffic is worst when there are accidents on the road. In the south side of the Reno, transportation is very manageable, and you rarely see any traffic jam. But on the north side, traffic is a tad worse. Overall, in comparison to other cities of the same population, traffic in Reno is quite easy.
Here is a driving direction to one of Reno's historic landmarks, the Virginia St Bridge. See you on the road and be safe!
